Concussion
Concussion
"A concussion is a brain injury. In the old days, we used to use terms like ‘getting your bell rung’ or ‘seeing stars’ as synonyms for a concussion. We didn’t make much of concussions, thinking they were just part of the game, and if there was no serious injury, then no harm was done.
“We were wrong. Some experts are advocating that we drop the term concussion altogether and actually use the term “brain injury” instead." (1)
Concussions are injuries to the brain that can have a debilitating effect on one’s life. Doctors feel that there is little that can be done. Rest and time are the standard response to concussion injuries. Medication is prescribed to help manage headaches and depression, otherwise, treatment is really left to letting the body slowly recover on its own – if it can.
What Happens to the Brain?
What Happens to the Brain?
Vital but very delicate nerve cells in the brain are severely damaged by the sudden impact and pressure inside the skull can increase. We believe that the impact energy is absorbed in the injured area and modifies the normal electrical environment in which natural healing and restoration of damaged nerve cells would occur.
Malfunction of the command centre of the body (the brain) can lead to major changes in one’s ability to function, and ultimately, to depression.
Matrix Repatterning therapy is a proven technique to locate areas of electrical imbalance in injured cells and to dissipate stored impact energy using gentle manual therapy. This normalizes deep tissues of the body which facilitate and accelerate natural healing.
We have successfully treated concussion in patients of all ages. Many types of trauma can result in a concussion:
- Sports Injuries – Hockey, Soccer, Skiing, Tobogganing, Snowboarding, etc.
- Falls of Any Kind, Impact to the Head, Neck, or even the Tailbone
- Motor Vehicle Accidents
- Explosive Blasts – Industrial, Mining, Military Combat
